Position Summary:
The Packer & Pallet Stacker position is responsible for preparing items for packaging including ensuring candy is correctly packaged, bagged, cartons and boxes are filled, labeled, taped, and ensuring packaged boxes are stacked according to company requirements and ready for transport to the warehouse. This position may be assigned to one designated area or a general area to ensure packing responsibilities are fulfilled for operational efficiency.
Principle Duties / Responsibilities:
* Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure all removeable parts are assembled properly for equipment startup.
* Ensure through frequent checks the candy boxes or cartons dispensed by the machines are correctly wrapped, taped, and coded.
* Replace tape and/or glue throughout the day on the machine to maintain production.
* Be mindful of the belts carrying the candy away to ensure that you stop your machine when the belts stop to avoid candy cartons backing up.
* Ensure the box is clear from the dater before sending another through the taper.
* Assist the room lead with changing the date and lot code on the taper and replenishing the ink.
* Ensure cleanliness of your machine throughout the day to reduce downtime of the machine.
* Clean machines and workstation properly at the end of each shift.
* Adhere to company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices, SQF and safe food procedures.
* Write production records legibly, accurately, and completely without additional notes or scribbles.
* All production record corrections must have one-line mark through with no blackout correction and initial corrections.
* Communicate with other employees and management respectfully to complete work tasks.
* Follow proper safety procedures for operating, troubleshooting, and cleaning the machines without any shortcuts.
* Must ensure personal cleanliness of hands and body prior to handling raw ingredients and food products.
* Ability to work additional hours if needed.
* Other tasks or duties as assigned by management.
